Overview
Middlesex County’s Department of Infrastructure Management is actively seeking a Facilities Light Maintenance/Custodial Worker to join our team! In this role, you will perform a variety of essential tasks related to the cleaning and maintenance of county buildings and grounds. You will play a crucial part in ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of facilities by supporting a variety of maintenance and custodial duties. The position requires a flexible schedule and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
- Transport, load, and unload supplies, furniture, and equipment.
- Operate construction and maintenance equipment after proper training and familiarize yourself with electronic and manual recording systems used by the department.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in restrooms and locker rooms.
- Ensure proper organization of equipment and materials, depositing sweepings and trash as needed.
- Shovel snow from driveways and sidewalks; spread sand, salt, or ashes to prevent ice accumulation and slipping hazards.
- Perform routine custodial duties such as cleaning, sweeping, and organizing to ensure a safe and clean working environment.
Qualifications:
- A valid New Jersey driver’s license is required only if vehicle operation is necessary for fulfilling job responsibilities.
- Flexible schedule is essential for the role.
- Middlesex County resident is preferred but not mandatory.
- Must satisfy employer paid physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
- NJ residency required by State Statute. R.S.52:14-7.
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is:
- $40,000-$45,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
