Position: Transportation/Operations Associate
Position Summary:
To transport students safely, efficiently and economically to and from school on a daily basis and to extracurricular events on a non-regular basis. Candidate must be willing to make in and out-of-county runs.

Daily Rate: $100.00
Minimum Qualifications:
- Hold a high school diploma or GED certificate.
3. Meet state physical examination requirements.
4. Meet local or state standards for driver record check.
5. Possess the ability to operate all vehicle types used in transporting students.
Essential Functions:
- Fills in for permanent car drivers in their absence.
- Drives defensively under varying traffic conditions and inclement weather.
- Drives with safety of students as first priority.
- Assures school vehicles are fueled and kept clean.
- Assists in the day to day functions of the operations and transportation department.
- Staffs the front desk at the Kidd Building to greet visitors and receive deliveries.
- Shuttles employees throughout the area to pick up or drop off vehicles.
- Retrieves hard drives and delivers to the Director of Operations in the event bus footage is requested.
- Establishes favorable working relationships with other drivers, maintenance personnel, teachers, students, and principals.
- Exhibits positive image as loyal representative of the school division.
- Demonstrates knowledge of rules and regulations promulgated by local, state, and federal authorities.
- Demonstrates knowledge of state laws and local ordinances.
- Deals with exuberant behavioral characteristics of youthful riders.
- Follows disciplinary procedures in keeping with school board policies and administrative regulations.
- Remains alert, and exercises good judgment concerning emergencies, disabled vehicles and irregular special requests by parents of riders.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor and Director of Operations.
- Abides by all Middlesex County School Board Policies and Regulations.
Physical Requirements: This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires walking and occasionally requires sitting and repetitive motions; work requires close vision, distance vision, depth perception and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, playground, classroom, light traffic).
Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid Virginia Drivers License issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles
