JOB GOALS: To provide Multi Language Learners (MLL) students in the district a smooth functioning class environment, which allows them to take full advantage of the instructional program and the available resource materials.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide English language development instruction to MLL students (i.e. co-teaching, push-in services, pull-out groups, etc.).
  • Assess and analyze the progress of MLL students.
  • Manage the development and implementation of the Individual Learning Plan (ILP).
  • Participate in consistent and frequent collaboration with classroom teachers to ensure instruction and assessment are appropriate for the student.
  • Communicate in a timely way with parents with regard to their child's English learner status via the Annual Parent Notification Letter; and additional parent communication on MLL program-related information such as WIDA ACCESS results, notification of exiting MLL services, etc.
  • Facilitate and implement the formal monitoring process for students who have exited MLL services for two years after their reclassification.
  • Provide MLL expertise to case conferences for MLLs with disabilities, MTSS meetings, referrals for Special Education evaluation, referrals for high ability programming, and other school-based processes pertaining to MLL students.
  • Administer WIDA placement tests and the annual ACCESS assessment.
  • Promote MLL family engagement.
  • Provide professional development for staff on topics such as MLL instructional best practices, data analysis, differentiation of assessments, etc.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Four-year college or university degree. Valid teaching license with required level certification.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of children, parents or employees of the school organization. Ability to effectively communicate through technology.

MATHEMATICAL SKILL:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

The employee should be able to use the following machines, tools, equipment, and work aids which may be representative, but not all inclusive, of those commonly associated with this type of work: pen, pencil, pointer, projector, public address system, tape recorder, blackboard, chalk, charts, diagrams, examinations, manuals, maps, publications, reference books, textbooks, computers. The employee must maintain a positive relationship with other staff, parents, and students.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee should be able to use the following machines, tools, equipment, and work aids which may be representative, but not all inclusive, of those commonly associated with this type of work: computer, pen; pencil; pointer; Promethean Board; projection equipment; public address system; tape recorder; blackboard; chalk; charts; diagrams; examinations; manuals; maps; publications; reference books; textbooks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The may be required to work indoors and outdoors.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Number of days per certified contract. Salary is determined by identifying experience and degree per the certified salary schedule.
