What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Corporation Maintenance/Grounds position at Middlebury Community School Corp?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in maintenance of outside facilities, equipment, and grounds.
- Assist in maintenance of NHS swimming pool, must pass Elkhart County certification test.
- Assist in snow removal as needed.
- Perform minor carpentry tasks including work involving masonry, woodworking, painting, drywall, and concrete.
- Work cooperatively with the custodial staff as well as the educational staff.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds or Superintendent.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have prior experience in maintenance. Knowledge of small and large gasoline and diesel engines preferred. Heavy snow removal equipment experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Have or obtain a certified pool operator’s license.
- Have or obtain a pesticide commercial applicator’s license.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence, and effectively present information.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

261 days/year. Additional hours as needed and approved by the Director of Buildings and Grounds. On emergency call when needed.

To be conducted under the direction of the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
