Middleburg seeks an Associate, Asset Management to lead the execution and asset management process for its growing strategic investment program (Co-GP and credit for Multifamily and BTR development). The program is currently responsible for approximately 17 investments in 6 states with over 10 different sponsors. The right individual will help lead the execution and asset management process in this strategy which includes negotiating loan and JVA documents, closing both preferred equity and co-gp transactions whereby Middleburg will lend and invest in other developers or sponsors projects, and leading the asset management of those projects. In this role, there will be routine communication with senior and executive leaders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Execute closing multifamily and BTR investment opportunities that were sourced by Strategic Investment Team.
- Manage any third-party diligence completed on sponsors and/or projects such as background checks, track record review, environmental, plan & cost review, insurance requirements, etc.
- Coordinate closing process by negotiating loan documents, JVA’s, reviewing closing statements, creating deal specific org charts, finalizing affiliate agreements, insurance certs, etc.
- Oversee the analysts who are performing deal level and partnership level analysis and ensure the analysis is completed in accordance with the underwriting and credit standards.
- Manage the preparation of internal memoranda required to obtain necessary approvals from Investment Committee as required to initiate and close an investment.
- Coordinate with operating partners and internal teams to track financial and operational performance, overseeing project budgets, milestone reporting, and pursuit cost tracking.
- Identifying risks, variances, and opportunities for value creation within the portfolio.
- Supporting reporting obligations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Complete market tours in conjunction with Asset Management responsibilities.
Knowledge and Experience:
- The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, law or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the Multifamily Real Estate industry.
- Experience with asset management, including financial modeling and performance tracking.
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
- Familiarity with multifamily real estate, legal document negotiation, and multifamily asset management.
- The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
