Middle Village Prep Charter School( MVP), located in Queens, NY, has an Earth Science position opened for the upcoming school year. MVP offers co-teaching and non-co teaching models for students. Co-Teaching is a classroom which has two teachers working together with groups of students; sharing the planning, organization, delivery, and assessment of instruction, as well as the physical space. Each teacher is to take an active role in the classroom to help ALL Students - in the room you are both looked at as teachers.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach a Regents-level 8th Grade Earth Science course that includes content in astronomy, geology, meteorology, oceanography, and environmental science.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned to the New York State Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS) and Regents Earth Science curriculum.
- Prepare students thoroughly for the Earth Science Regents Exam
- Administer and assess labs in accordance with NYS Regents requirements, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Utilize data from formative and summative assessments to drive instruction and provide targeted interventions.
- Integrate hands-on learning experiences, lab work, and scientific inquiry to deepen student understanding.
- Maintain high expectations for all students and implement strategies to support diverse learning needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum and share best practices.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff to support academic progress and student achievement.
- Participate in professional development, school events, and departmental meetings.
- Uphold all school policies and contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Earth Science, Geology, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Valid New York State Teacher Certification in Earth Science (Grades 7–12).
- Experience teaching Earth Science and familiarity with the Regents curriculum.
