Our organization provides services designed to help members of our community achieve their individual goals. MPNN BH has over 60 distinct programs to aid and support all ages and many situations.

The position of Youth Peer Support Partner is responsible for:

  • A Youth Support Partner must have experience with navigating multiple child serving agencies and the ability to share your experience with the clients served and other professionals. A Youth Support Partner needs to know how to work with a team of both professionals as well as family members in order to navigate concerns and needs. The Youth Support Partner will be trained in the High Fidelity Wraparound Model and be willing and able to implement this model with the youth/families that they serve. A Youth Support Partner must have flexible work hours and be available to the youth/family in the afternoon or weekend hours. Must be proficient with computer applications (Word, email).
  • Use life experience to support youth in navigating VA behavioral health systems and other formal and informal community resources
  • Ensure youth understand the process of High Fidelity Wraparound and understand the roles of team members and the information presented to them
  • Work collaboratively with Intensive Care Coordinator to provide High Fidelity Wraparound care for identified clients.
  • Become an active member of the Youth and Family Team in order to support youth and families as they identify and engage with formal services and informal supports.
  • Assist the youth, family, wraparound facilitator and team in the strengths and needs discovery, and promote and reinforce strength-based strategies.
  • Successfully complete training in High Fidelity Wraparound Family Support Partner.
  • Build trust with youth by engaging in a confidential, respectful, non-judgmental, and supportive relationship. Listen to and validate each family member's perspective, feelings and values allowing everyone to be heard.
  • Support the implementation of the 10 principles of High Fidelity Wraparound and the implementation of the 4 phases of High Fidelity Wraparound. Ensure that the principles and phases are delivered with model fidelity.
  • Help families understand their child's needs and services. Role model how youth should address controversial information for a successful outcome.
  • Follow the Plan of Care developed in team meetings to help families achieve their family vision. Assist family with completing their assigned action steps that are assigned in the Plan of Care.
  • Participate in providing a variety of support services for youth such as support groups, family activities, etc. as assigned in the Plan of Care.
  • Model how to advocate for self and empower them to use voice and choice in planning decisions. Transfer skills to help families learn how to engage in self-care practices so that they can sustain change.
  • Attend all Youth and Family Team meetings, typically held monthly but may be more often as necessary, and assist the youth, family and wraparound facilitator in meeting preparation.
  • Attend other meetings as needed and as requested by the youth and family (i.e. FAPT, IEP, ect).
  • Support the voice and choice of the youth and family through modeling the effective presentation of ideas and suggestions during team meetings.
  • Assist family and youth in identifying and developing natural supports.
  • Act as a liaison between youth and professionals. Maintain a working relationship with professionals.
  • Have timely and accurate documentation.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

High school diploma and some college preferred. Must be a young adult that has lived experience as a child/teenager with emotional, behavioral or mental health challenges is required. Must have been served by at least two child serving agencies (Special Education, Mental Health, Juvenile Justice, or Department of Social Services)

Must possess a valid Virginia Driver's License and acceptable driving record. Must obtain a TB test with satisfactory results within 30 days of employment and annually as required by licensing authority.
