Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Facilities Management Specialist and Facilities Management Property Manager, performs various tasks necessary to assist the Specialists in their daily assignments in the areas of property and grounds maintenance. Specific tasks vary by crew and by season. Experience is not expected, but the willingness to learn and an ability to follow directions and obey safety policy are required. This position will report to Center Coordinator.
Job Responsibilities
- Tasks including – but not limited to – working on your knees, walk-behind mowing, weed trimming, edging, blowing, raking, sweeping, hand-digging/shoveling, trenching, rototilling, mulching, moving furniture, and painting. Drives lawn mower; climb ladders.
- Safely clean, maintain, store, and operate equipment and vehicles.
- Assist with cleaning and maintenance of grounds facilities including garages, shops and offices.
- Stay busy – ask for additional work as each task is completed.
- Other Duties, as assigned
Job Requirements
Essential
- Must pass all required Background Checks.
- Must possess a valid Virginia Driver's License with reliable transportation and driving record acceptable to agency insurance carrier.
- Must obtain a TB test with satisfactory results within 30 days of employment, and yearly thereafter as required by licensing authority.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform outdoor work in any weather for up to 8 hours a day
- Dependability in attendance and ability to take responsibility for productivity and quality of work
- Ability to maintain safe working conditions at all times, including comprehension and adherence with material safety precautions and operational training
- Positive attitude and ability to work with a team
- Ability to follow instructions and learn new skills
- Ability to complete tasks independently
