Legal Assistant (Contractor)
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Legal Assistant provides a wide range of administrative and paralegal services to assist the General Counsel. Candidates should demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the function of an in-house legal department. This position requires independent judgment, superior organizational skills, and the ability to perform complex and substantive paralegal work.

Candidates should demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the function of an in-house legal department. This position requires independent judgment, superior organizational skills, and the ability to perform complex and substantive paralegal work.
DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:(Essential Functions: Duties and responsibilities noted with bullets are considered to be the essential functions of the job).
- Conduct factual research and compile data from files, online sources, and other references.
- Prepare summaries or brief reports based on research findings.
- Maintain a legal docket to track pending matters, deadlines, and key dates.
- Act as a point of contact for external vendors, legal counsel, and service providers.
- Review and prepare standard contract drafts for attorney review.
- Assist with filing documents with courts or regulatory bodies, as needed.
- Coordinate schedules, meetings, and communications for the legal department.
- Perform other administrative and legal support duties as assigned
- 1-3 years of experience working in a legal or professional business office environment and a H.S. diploma or equivalent.
- Legal Assistant certification from an approved organization or school preferred.
- Proficiency in using computers. Must have experience in MS Word as well as proficient in MS Office applications including Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of legal terminology.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills.

- Good judgment and strong problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently.
