What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Midcoast Cardiovascular Associates?
The Medical Assistant will support clinical operations in a specialty clinic by facilitating patient intake, assisting medical staff,managing medical records, calling patients back with clinical questions. This role involves high patient interaction and requires excellent communication and organizational skills to ensure smooth patient flow and quality care. The Medical Assistant will report to the Medical Director and the Lead Medical Assistant. We utilize E-Clinical Works scheduling and EHR systems. Modified work schedule Monday through Thursday, 8 am to 5 pm, with no travel required.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient intake and record vital signs
- Maintain and update medical records accurately using EHR systems
- Provide patient education and answer basic clinical questions
- Support clinical staff during exams and procedures
- Assist with scheduling and patient communications using EClinical Works
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Facilitate smooth patient flow in a specialty clinic setting
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Strong understanding of medical terminology
Preferred Qualifications
- Entry-level experience in medical assisting
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR), specifically EClinical Works
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong patient communication skills
- Experience with scheduling software
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance
- Organizational skills and clinical support experience
