Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead DevOps Engineer with deep expertise in Azure Cloud Architecture, Automation, and CI/CD pipelines to lead infrastructure operations and modernization efforts for our Tier-1 enterprise client.
This role requires a hands-on technical leader with 15 years of overall IT experience, capable of driving enterprise cloud automation, enforcing security best practices, and mentoring cross-functional engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Azure Infrastructure & Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain scalable, highly available, and secure Azure cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- CI/CD Pipeline Automation: Architect and optimize end-to-end continuous integration and deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps (ADO), GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
- Containerization & Orchestration: Manage production-grade Kubernetes environments using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Docker, and Helm charts.
- Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers, driving best practices in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), security, and infrastructure automation.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Drive automated provisioning using Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep.
- Observability & Monitoring: Implement enterprise monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Datadog, or PrometheGrafana.
- Security & Compliance: Enforce cloud security policies, RBAC, key management (Azure Key Vault), and compliance controls across multi-tenant environments.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate closely with Enterprise Architects, Development Leads, and Business Stakeholders to deliver reliable platform engineering capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- 15 years of total IT experience in backend platform engineering, system administration, and DevOps roles.
- 8 years of dedicated experience with Azure Cloud (AKS, Azure Networking, Azure Key Vault, Azure Storage, Azure SQL).
- Deep expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or Bicep.
- Proven experience setting up and managing production Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters.
- Hands-on mastery of Azure DevOps (ADO) pipelines, branching strategies, and artifact management.
- Strong proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Solid understanding of enterprise networking (VNets, ExpressRoute, VPNs, Load Balancers, DNS, NSGs).
- Location: Must be currently residing in the Dallas/Fort Worth (TX) area, ideally near Richardson, TX.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or DevOps Engineer Expert.
- Prior experience delivering platform solutions within real estate, financial services, or Tier-1 enterprise accounts.
- Experience integrating security into CI/CD pipelines (DevSecOps: SonarQube, Snyk, Azure Defender).
