About the Role
Mid-West Textile is seeking a Purchasing Supervisor to lead procurement operations and support our warehouse, recycling, and distribution activities. This position is responsible for purchasing raw materials, supplies, and consumables, managing supplier relationships, negotiating pricing and contracts, monitoring inventory levels, and driving cost-saving initiatives while maintaining quality and service standards.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily purchasing and procurement activities
- Review and approve purchase orders and requisitions
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms with suppliers
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships and evaluate vendor performance
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages and overstock situations
- Coordinate with warehouse, logistics, operations, and accounting teams
- Track shipments and resolve delivery, quality, service, and invoicing issues
- Analyze purchasing trends and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and reports
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures
- Monitor procurement KPIs, including supplier performance, cost savings, and on-time delivery
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
- Train, coach, and supervise purchasing personnel
- Support the development and implementation of purchasing procedures and best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- Minimum 5 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- CPSM, CPP, or other purchasing/procurement certifications
- Experience in distribution, recycling, logistics, warehouse, or industrial environments
- Experience with inventory control and forecasting processes
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
