We’re looking for a motivated Technician I to join our Fleet Maintenance team! This entry-level position is perfect for someone who’s eager to learn, enjoys hands-on work, and wants to grow into a long-term career as a Fleet Technician.
As a Technician I, you’ll assist experienced technicians with preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections while learning how to keep our fleet running safely and efficiently. You’ll also help maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
At Mid-Valley Disposal, we believe in training from within — Technician I’s are expected to grow and advance to Technician II within three years.
What You’ll Do
- Assist Technician II and III team members with vehicle maintenance and repairs.
- Perform basic preventive maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including shop cleaning, parts cleaning, and tank inspections.
- Help ensure all vehicles meet D.O.T. and C.H.P. compliance standards.
- Document all work performed, including parts used and time spent.
- Report Out-of-Service (O.S.S.) items and safety concerns to your supervisor promptly.
- Wash and detail equipment as needed.
- Attend company and vendor-sponsored training sessions to continue developing your skills.
- Contribute to team goals of maximizing uptime and ensuring operational readiness.
What You Bring
Knowledge & Experience:
- Basic mechanical knowledge and interest in maintenance or repair work.
- 0–3 years of experience (we’ll train the right person).
- Willingness to learn how to use power tools and diagnostic equipment.
Skills:
- Dependable and motivated to learn.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Safety-focused with attention to detail.
- Positive attitude and ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 0–3 years of maintenance or mechanical experience
- Valid Class C Driver’s License
- Basic computer skills
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to work around heavy equipment, noise, dust, and outdoor conditions.
- Occasional exposure to heights, confined spaces, and chemicals.
