Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractors using schematics and technical manuals.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, suspension work, and hydraulic system servicing to maximize equipment lifespan.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, soldering, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet operational specifications.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems including automotive diagnostics, wiring issues, sensors, and HVAC components to identify root causes efficiently.
- Repair transmissions, air brake systems, shocks & struts, steering alignment, and hydraulics to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
- Assist with assembly and disassembly of machinery during repairs or upgrades while adhering to safety standards.
- Maintain detailed service records of all repairs performed and communicate effectively with team members to coordinate maintenance schedules.
Requirements
- Proven mechanic experience with a strong background in heavy equipment operation and automotive repair.
- Dealership experience is highly desirable for familiarity with manufacturer-specific systems such as Caterpillar or other industrial brands.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other fabrication tools required for repair tasks.
- Knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, HVAC systems, tire service, welding techniques, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in physically demanding environments while maintaining attention to detail.
