JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Day Services Assistant PAY GRADE: 6
DEPARTMENT: Day Services/Varied Locations
SUPERVISOR: Day Services Assistant Director
JOB SUMMARY
The Day Services Assistant will be responsible for providing direct care, active treatment and for providing meaningful activities/community integration opportunities for the members to engage in.
MAIN DUTIES
Coordination of Activity Area
Under the guise of the Day Services Coordinator the Day Services Assistant will ensure that materials/activities provided meet the individual needs of each member in the activity area.
Activity area organized to assure a safe, clean and engaging environment for the members.
Follow each member’s daily schedule
Demonstrate knowledge of members goals/objectives—behavior management, and other individual needs.
Use correct voice tones when interaction with members and staff.
All interaction is age appropriate.
Provide intervention and/or assistance in behaviors such as self-abuse or aggression.
Member Protection
Ensure that members are not subject to physical, verbal, sexual, or psychological abuse.
Follow all policies and procedures that prohibit mistreatment, neglect, or abuse of members.
Safety and Physical Environment
Provide activity area that is safe, clean and engaging. Review and follow all safety and infection control procedures.
Demonstrate knowledge of and participate in all safety training/procedures and drills for the center (i.e.:fire, tornado, etc.)
Training
Participate in all required training, which enhances the performance of job duties efficiently and effectively.
Demonstrate the skill and knowledge to administer Behavior Management techniques to members displaying inappropriate behavior.
General
Develop effective working relationships and open lines of communication with co-workers, supervisors and employees of Mid-Step services.
Work daily schedule, reporting to work on time (complete requests for time off, appropriate use of time card).
Participate in other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must have a high school diploma or GED.
2. Must have a valid driver license; meet insurance criteria to drive,
And obtain a chauffeur’s license.
3. Posses ability to speak and read English.
4. Must have no restrictions on lifting.
5. Must be able to write legibly.
6. Must have experience with computers and typing and have good
writing skills.
Must have no convictions or prior employment history of child or
member abuse, neglect or mistreatment.
8. Must not be on the Medicare/Medicaid fraud registry.
9. Individuals with blood borne pathogen diseases cannot be employed in
any direct care position due to risk of disease exposure to our
member’s.
10. Must be able to pass pre-employment physical.
