What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Welder position at Mid-States Millwright & Builders, Inc.?
Scope:
To fit, layout, weld, and fabricate structural and misc. products per shop drawings or verbal instructions while meeting company deadlines, expectations, and quality standards and adhering to safety regulations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Complies with Safety Policies and Standards and company policies
- Perform timely company inspections ie. crane, rigging, hoists, etc. as necessary
- Maintains a high level of professionalism in communication, actions, and attitude.
- Effectively meet manufacturing schedule deadlines.
- Continuous improvement of material and work center flow.
- Takes part in shop cleanliness and organization.
- Occasional tool and welder maintenance when necessary.
- Able to perform complex welding and fitting assignments for structural and misc. steel products.
- Weld under Mid-States WPS's within the guidelines of (AWS D1.1), and Mid-States weld standards
- Can follow quality standards throughout the production process.
- Apply practical application of shop mathematics. Decimals and fractions, geometry, etc.
- Basic knowledge and use of fabrication techniques involved in structural and misc. steel fabrication.
- Proficient in all GMAW processes, positions; sets up and controls welding variables within MMF WPS.
- Overhead Crane Operation.
- Ability to read, understand shop drawings.
Position Responsibilites:
- 90% Structural and misc. steel fitting and welding.
- 5% Quality checks and documentation of paperwork.
- 5% Setup and housekeeping
Required Qualifications:
- Read, write, speak and understand English. 5 years of industry/fabrication experience preferred.
- Strong math skills (addition, geometry, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
- Must be detail oriented and organized.
- Strong communication skills
- Working knowledge operating hand tools, power tools, torches, plasma cutters and other fabrication tools.
- Strong understanding and skill of GMAW welding, structural layout, and fitting.
- Strong understanding of drawing and gather reading, measuring tools, and welding symbols.
- Good understanding of and how to refence of (AWS D1.1)
- Troubleshooting and brainstorming skills.
