Job Summary

The Electrical Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of electrical maintenance teams to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment. This role involves overseeing electrical projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and providing technical guidance and support to team members. The Electrical Foreman ensures that work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a team of electrical technicians and electricians, ensuring effective performance and safety compliance.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate electrical maintenance and repair work to minimize downtime and disruptions.
  • Oversee the installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members, resolving complex electrical issues as needed.
  • Monitor and inspect work to ensure quality and adherence to project specifications and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and project progress.
  • Collaborate with other departments and project managers to coordinate electrical work with other trades and project activities.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure that all team members adhere to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Review and approve work orders, job plans, and material requisitions.
  • Train and mentor junior electricians and technicians to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Respond to emergency electrical issues and provide on-call support as required.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and inventory of tools, equipment, and materials.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED; completion of an electrical apprenticeship or technical training program preferred.
  • Relevant certifications or licenses (e.g., Journeyman Electrician, Master Electrician) preferred.

Experience

  • 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role, preferably within the industrial maintenance or related industry.
  • Experience with electrical systems, troubleshooting, and project management.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in electrical tools, equipment, and diagnostic techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively.

Work Location and Travel:

  • Primarily based at the company’s operational sites with occasional travel to other locations as needed for project oversight and coordination.

Work Environment

  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary (Monday - Sunday with some overnight work) and overtime is frequently required.
  • This position is safety sensitive in nature, which means employees perform duties so fraught with risks of injury to self or others, or environmental injury, that even a momentary lapse of concentration or attention can have disastrous consequences.
  • The working environment is often in harsh elements (hot/humid and/or cold temperatures, rain, etc.) Industrial environments often have exposure to hazardous chemicals, moving heavy equipment, and other safety-sensitive hazards/risks. Must always be alert and able to safely perform the essential duties of the job without risking harm to oneself or others.

Physical Requirements

Talk /Hear: Required to communicate instructions and safety protocols to the team, coordinate with other departments, and address any issues or questions on-site.

Stand/Sit: Frequently required to oversee work activities, manage schedules and documentation, and participate in meetings or planning sessions.

Walk: Regularly required to inspect job sites, supervise ongoing work, and move between different areas or locations within the worksite.

Use hands/fingers to handle or feel: Frequently required to handle tools and electrical components, operate equipment, and complete paperwork or reports.

Climb: Occasionally required to access elevated work areas for installation, maintenance, or inspection of electrical systems and equipment.

Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl: Occasionally required to work in confined spaces, access or install electrical systems in tight areas, and perform maintenance tasks.

See: Required to ensure work is performed according to specifications, monitor the safety and quality of the installation, and inspect electrical systems and components.

Carry, weight, Lift: Occasionally required to lift and carry tools, equipment, or materials needed for electrical installations or repairs up to 50 pounds.

Exposure to work: Regular exposure to industrial environments, including electrical hazards, noise, and machinery.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
