Company Overview:
Mid-South Roof Systems is a top-performing industry provider of commercial roofing services. We are currently seeking two (2) certified and experienced Crane Boom Operators to join our team. This role is responsible for safely operating boom cranes to lift, move, and position roofing materials, equipment, and supplies at various job sites. The ideal candidate brings at least 3 years of operating experience, has a strong understanding of load dynamics and safety procedures, and works effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate crane/boom trucks to lift and move roofing materials, equipment, and tools to specified locations on commercial roofing job sites.
- Safely maneuver loads, ensuring compliance with load charts and site-specific conditions.
- Conduct pre-operational and post-operational inspections of the crane/boom to ensure safe and optimal performance.
- Communicate clearly with riggers, signalers, and roofing crews to coordinate lifts and material placement.
- Maintain accurate records of crane operations, inspections, and maintenance needs.
- Adhere strictly to OSHA, NCCCO, and company safety guidelines and protocols.
- Participate in daily job site safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Report all safety concerns, mechanical issues, and incidents immediately to supervisors.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating a crane/boom in a construction or commercial roofing environment.
- Valid NCCCO Certification (or equivalent crane operator certification required by state/federal standards).
- Valid CDL Class B (or higher) with clean driving record preferred.
- Strong knowledge of boom/crane operations, safety procedures, and rigging.
- Ability to read and understand load charts, lift plans, and site layouts.
- Must be able to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience on commercial flat or low-slope roofing projects.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- OSHA 10 or 30 Certification.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to travel anywhere in the United States without restriction.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Ability to work weekends and extended hours based on production needs.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Tolerance for outdoor work in extreme temperatures and elevated work areas.
Work Environment:
This position works in active construction zones, exposed to the elements, moving mechanical equipment, and high-noise environments. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
