JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Cycle Counter
Reports To: Inventory Control Manager
Positions Supervised: None
Status: Full-Time
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Hours: 40 Hours/Week (Minimum)

Job Summary:
The Cycle Counter is responsible for monitoring all inventoried items and performing cycle counting duties to ensure that all items are proplery verified to be reflective of reported inventory. Duties also include activities to maintain inventory accuracy through proper processing of records concerned with ordering, receiving, storing, and distribution from all facilities operated by the Mid-South Food Bank.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Cycle count inventory items daily
- Compiles data from sources such as orders, donation orders, purchase orders, invoices, requisitions, and accounting reports and enters information into the Food Bank’s inventory system (Ceres) to maintain inventory, purchasing, shipping, or other records accuracy.
- Compares nomenclature, item numbers, item descriptions, authorizes substitutions, and other listed information with catalogs, manuals, item lists, and similar references to verify accuracy of receipts and distributions.
- Ensure inventory items are in proper locations. Conduct searches to locate misclassified inventory.
- Report discrepancies of over/under amounts and any damaged inventory items.
- Compile/Publish/Report out inventory metrics as required.
- Communicate and develop process enhancements as needed (performing root-cause analysis on inventory discrepancies and recommending process improvements to eliminate recurrences).
- Additional duties may include assisting in receiving and stocking, assisting in distribution, etc.
- Must ensure safety rules are observed and assist in maintaining clean and orderly stocking.

Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or GED; 1 year warehouse/inventory control experience.
- Above-average math and analytical skills
- Knowledge of safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Operate a forklift, pallet jack, scissor lift, and other warehouse equipment.
- Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Able to use computer, specifically Microsoft Office Programs, Food Bank’s inventory system (Ceres), ADCS (Handheld Scanners) and communicating effectively via email and phone.
- Proven time management skills with the ability to respond to time-sensitive/critical issues and work overtime as needed to meet deadlines.
- Excellent work ethic; the ability to work self-directed and as a flexible team player.
- Ability to travel between Food Bank operated facilities.
- Ability to travel throughout service area for meetings and/or conferences.
Qualifications (Continued):
- Ability to travel outside service area for meetings and/or conferences.
- A strategic thinker who can see how complex systems work together.
- Ability to learn our inventory software program, CERES.
- Valid Driver’s License
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- Standing for continuous periods of time without the ability to leave the work area.
- Ability to work for long periods of time in temperature-controlled areas such as the cooler and freezer.
- Ability to work for long periods of time in non-temperature-controlled areas such as the dry storage area.
- Lifting (raising or lowering objects up to 40 lbs.).
- Pushing and/or pulling (exerting up to 15 lbs.).
- Carrying objects (in arms or on shoulders)
- Reaching (extending hands and arms in any direction).
- Stooping and crouching (bending downward and forward).
- Feeling (perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, or texture).
- Grasping (applying pressure to objects).

Mental and Visual Job Requirements:
- Visual ability required includes close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to identify and distinguish colors may be required.
- Ability to judge distance and space relationships.
- Ability to learn and comprehend instructions and orientation to the job.
- Ability to concentrate attention on task at hand for extended periods of time.

Workplace Environmental Conditions:
This job is in a food warehouse/distribution environment.
While performing duties of this job, you are frequently exposed to work near moving equipment, chemicals, and areas of the warehouse that are temperature controlled below zero degrees Fahrenheit.
