The Role: Inspection Manager
The Inspection Manager plays a critical role, overseeing and mentoring our team of inspectors/technicians as they perform vital inspections for our customers.
Key Responsibilities (“What You’ll Do”)
- Managing Technicians & Scheduling:
- Supervise and mentor inspectors/technicians. Recruit, train, and provide daily feedback to inspectors, fostering professional growth and encouraging licensing and NICET certifications.
- Regularly review dayworks and inspection reports for accuracy and completeness before invoices and reports are submitted to customers.
- Ensure team adherence to safety policies within MSFS and have up to date safety qualifications for all required sites (TAPPI Safe, Safety Council, ISNET World, etc.)
- Ensure field tools/trucks are properly maintained.
- Ensure all inspections, testing, and maintenance comply with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards, local building codes, and AHJ (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) regulations.
- High volume scheduling of technicians on a monthly/weekly/daily level, including time sheet management.
- Coordinating with other department managers for customer needs regarding deficiencies, repairs, and recertifications.
- Operational & Financial Management: Track departmental budget, gross revenue, and margin targets to meet profitability goals with new and existing customers. Review and maintain (with admin assistance) the inspection deficiencies and ensure timely follow‑up for repair quotes.
- Client Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for customers regarding scheduling inspections, their findings and deficiencies, and ensuring prompt resolution of issues to maintain compliance.
Required Qualifications (“What We’re Looking For”)
- Experience: Minimum 8 years of service-related field experience, including at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Technical Knowledge: An understanding of NFPA standards and inspection requirements.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Licensing & Certifications: Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Compliance: Ability to pass a mandatory background check and drug screening prior to employment.
- Software Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel), and willingness to become familiar with inspection software (i.e., Ember).
- Physical Requirements: Ability to travel, navigate job sites, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Other Required Skills:
- Proven capability to motivate the team to meet high-volume scheduling demands
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills
- Problem‑solving and decision‑making ability
- Ability to quote and budget within desired margins
- Ability to coach and motivate field technicians
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting to other department managers, administrators, upper management and communicating with customers.
