The Procurement Specialist plays a pivotal role within the Procurement team, focusing on a variety of critical activities, including the execution of purchasing operations, management of inventory, meticulous handling of vendor relationships, and the efficient management of both receiving and shipping and logistics documentation. This role is instrumental in analyzing supplier proposals, ensuring that material procurement is both timely and cost-effective, and that it aligns seamlessly with production schedules. The Procurement Specialist is the backbone of the supply chain process, providing essential support to the Procurement Manager and Supply Chain Coordinator by optimizing operational costs and contributing significantly to the company's operational efficiency and success.
Essential Functions

Purchasing and Procurement: Conduct purchasing operations with a keen focus on optimizing costs and ensuring timely procurement of materials and goods. Place purchase orders based on production requirements and inventory levels. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends and supplier landscapes to identify sourcing opportunities.

Quote Evaluation: Critically analyze and evaluate supplier quotes, considering factors such as price, quality, and delivery times. Work closely with the Supply Chain Manager to select the most suitable suppliers that align with the company's cost and quality objectives.

Receiving Documentation: Oversee the documentation process for received goods. Ensure accuracy and completeness of documents and coordinate with the procurement and accounting departments to resolve discrepancies. Maintain detailed records for auditing and tracking purposes.

Vendor Management: Assist in establishing and maintaining strong, strategic relationships with suppliers and vendors. Participate in negotiations and discussions to secure advantageous terms and build a reliable supply base. Coordinating contractor and service provider in accordance with compliance regulations, such as training and access to MSE’s properties.

Inventory Management Support: Support inventory control efforts by providing accurate details of incoming and outgoing goods to ensure that inventory levels are optimally maintained. Assist in conducting regular inventory audits and analyses to identify variances and opportunities for improvement.

Process Improvement: Contribute to the identification and implementation of process improvements within the department, aiming to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall performance.

Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, company policies, and standards. Assist in preparing and presenting reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, cost savings, and other key metrics.
PPE Requirements and Safety Rules

Safety-toed shoes or boots are required everywhere in the plant.

The maximum weight allowed to be lifted by one person is 80 pounds. Anything heavier requires the aid from another person, forklift, big joe, or roll handlers.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. The dress code is business casual. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. This position is occasionally exposed to outdoor conditions.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and general hours of work are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position does require occasional weekend/holiday work. You must participate in inventory on the 1st of every month, with no exceptions.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma required.
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field preferred
