Primary Work Location: Central Office, Remsen

Work Hours: 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services or related field required.
  • Able to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, push and pull regularly.
  • Lift up to 10 pounds often; lift up to 20 pounds occasionally; lift over 20 pounds rarely.


Qualifications:

  • Supervisory skills preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to relate to low resource preschool children, families and staff in a positive manner.
  • Be knowledgeable of Head Start/Early Head Start policies, procedures, performance standards and Iowa Licensing regulations.
  • Support, supervise and evaluate Family Advocates while monitoring to ensure compliance of standards, policies and procedures and the State of Iowa Licensing regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Director and Management Team to ensure compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Oversee and coordinate the program’s Family Engagement and Health Services, ensuring strong family partnerships, appropriate referrals, and timely follow-up with families.
  • Oversee parent involvement activities that strengthen and affirm the role of parents as the primary educators of their children.
  • Maintain and monitor effective record keeping and tracking system of EHS health, family goals, referrals, follow-up contacts, family outcomes, and parent meetings/socializations.
  • Ensure appropriate health education is provided for the EHS pregnant moms and parents.
  • Coordinate the EHS medical and dental health services for the program.
  • Monitor and maintain EHS child health records and documentation.
  • Coordinate and assist with scheduling health fair screenings and services, including height and weight measurements, vision and hearing screenings, lead screenings, and fluoride varnishes.
  • Oversee Head Start transportation services to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient transportation for children and families while maintaining compliance with program requirements.
  • Attend center team meetings.
  • Provide professional development, on-boarding and coaching for Family Advocates.
  • Coordinate the Parents as Teachers curriculum for Family Advocates.
  • Review and revise policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and monitor effective record keeping and tracking systems through the Child Plus Data system.
  • Provide input in grant writing, budget planning and implementation.
  • Develop and maintain community partnerships.
  • Work collaboratively with Management Team on PIR, PSA, Community Needs Assessment and CSBG requirements.
  • Serve as the program Child Abuse Reporter liaison with the Department of Human Services.
  • Attend state and regional trainings and networking sessions.
  • Complete necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
  • Able to work flexible hours without direct supervision, including some evenings.
  • Able to complete job duties as described with reasonable accommodations.

Other Conditions of Employment:

  • Submit to the Department of Human Services Criminal History and a Request for Child Abuse Information Records Check upon employment and every two (2) years thereafter.
  • Submit to FBI National Fingerprint Criminal History Check and every four (4) years thereafter.
  • Submit to a Motor Vehicle Records check prior to employment and every year thereafter.
  • Complete a Physical Exam prior to employment.
  • Complete a Tuberculosis Screening or Assessment prior to employment.
  • Complete mandatory reporter training within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
  • Adhere to HS/EHS Standards of Conduct.
  • Sign and maintain required confidentiality statement.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance and reliable transportation.
  • Attend required in-services, trainings, orientations and meetings.
  • Must be able to complete job duties as described with reasonable accommodations.

Salary : $43,177 - $67,140
