Director, Mid-Shore Early Learning Center

Mid-Shore Early Learning Center (MSELC) is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and hands-on Director to lead the Center into its next chapter.

Since opening in 2014, MSELC has provided children and families with a caring, nurturing environment where young learners can grow and thrive. We are looking for a leader who shares that commitment and is excited about the opportunity to strengthen our organization, support our staff, deepen relationships with families, and grow enrollment.

Reporting to the MSELC Board of Directors, the Director is responsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day management of the Center. This is a highly engaged leadership position requiring someone who is equally comfortable setting priorities, managing staff, communicating with families, ensuring regulatory compliance, and stepping in to support Center operations when needed.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide leadership, supervision, coaching, and support to MSELC teachers and staff.
• Oversee daily Center operations and maintain a safe, welcoming, high-quality learning environment.
• Ensure compliance with Maryland child care licensing requirements, MSDE standards, accreditation requirements, and other applicable regulations.
• Build strong, positive relationships with children, families, staff, community partners, and the Board.
• Lead efforts to increase and maintain enrollment, including timely follow-up with prospective families and effective family communication.
• Manage staff scheduling, professional development, performance evaluation, recruitment, and onboarding.
• Oversee key administrative and financial functions, including tuition collection, payroll, purchasing, recordkeeping, and participation in the budgeting process.
• Ensure MSELC remains in good standing by maintaining required registrations, filings, licenses, and certifications.
• Work in close partnership with the Board to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support the Center’s long-term sustainability.
• Serve as an active member of the MSELC team, including providing classroom support when needed.

The successful candidate will be a reliable, communicative, solutions-oriented leader who genuinely enjoys working with children, families, and early childhood professionals. We are seeking someone who leads with both accountability and compassion, follows through on commitments, communicates proactively, and can build a positive and collaborative workplace culture.

Candidates must meet all applicable Maryland State Department of Education requirements for a Child Care Center Director. Early childhood education and child care center leadership experience are strongly preferred.

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week, exempt position. MSELC operates Monday through Friday, with hours varying within the Center’s operating schedule of 6:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.

Salary: $52,000 - $57,000 annually

Pay: $52,000.00 - $57,000.00 per year
