Position Overview:
The IRA Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of clerical and administrative duties to ensure efficient and accurate IRA/HSA account processing and maintenance. This individual will review IRA documents, calculate distributions, maintain controls, and develop appropriate monitoring measures to comply with government regulations and financial policies. In addition, will research and stay informed with IRA/HSA regulations and make appropriate updates to documents, disclosures, and procedures to ensure compliance. This individual will follow procedures and policies and seek exception approvals as warranted. This individual will also assist with a variety of operational tasks, crucial for the success of the Deposit Services Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews IRA/HSA tax forms, documents and reports and advises Information Processing and/or Retail Staff of all necessary changes and corrections.
- Calculates and distributes IRA payouts and sets up automatic payments for customers who take scheduled distributions or who will be required to take distributions in the current year.
- Maintains IRA documents and procedures and works with the Training Department to maintain accurate documentation of employee IRA resources.
- Researches regulations for IRAs/HSAs and ensures compliance through appropriate document upgrades, disclosure and procedure updates.
- Processes time sensitive transactions.
- Performs research and error correction.
- Investigates and makes posting or return decisions for non-post items.
- Codes dormant accounts for restrictions and follows all Red Flag procedures.
- Prepares, scans, and indexes documents.
- Supports correction and maintenance to all customer profiles, portfolios and accounts. Verifies additional areas of maintenance changes.
- Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from customers, other personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
- Prepares miscellaneous reports as assigned.
- Offers ideas and suggestions to expedite processes and provide positive impact changes company wide.
Education & Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent; training relating to deposit accounts.
- A minimum of one (1) year related experience as a IRA Representative, Deposit Support Rep, Financial Center Associate (Teller) normally required.
Skill(s)
Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematical skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; proficient computer skills; a thorough knowledge of the technical aspects of the IRA/HSA function; ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach with hands or arms, use hands to manipulate objects, handle or feel, and lift items weighing 20 lbs. or less; visual, auditory and speaking skills.
