Role Description
Mid-Ohio Pipeline is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and oversee complex pipeline construction projects from initiation through closeout. This role is responsible for managing scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, and client relationships while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory and contractual requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise in pipeline construction, and a proven ability to deliver projects safely and profitably.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and direction for multiple pipeline construction projects, including transmission, distribution, integrity digs, HDDs, stations, and related facilities
- Manage all phases of project execution, including estimating support, planning, scheduling, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout
- Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, inspectors, engineers, and regulatory agencies
- Develop and manage project budgets, cost forecasts, change orders, and financial reporting
- Lead project teams, including Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and support staff
- Ensure compliance with safety programs, environmental requirements, and company policies
- Oversee quality control activities in accordance with API 1104, client specifications, and company quality plans
- Review contracts and ensure adherence to scope, terms, and risk management requirements
- Identify and mitigate project risks and resolve issues proactively
- Mentor and develop project management staff and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in business development efforts, including client meetings and proposal reviews, as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience)
- Minimum 10 years of pipeline construction experience, with 5 years in a project management leadership role
- Strong knowledge of pipeline construction methods, including welding, coating, testing, and commissioning
- Thorough understanding of API 1104, DOT/PHMSA regulations, and applicable state and federal requirements
- Proven experience managing large-scale, complex projects with multiple crews and subcontractors
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
- Proficiency with project management and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, B2W, or similar)
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as PMP or CCM
- Experience working with major gas transmission operators and utilities
- Background in both self-perform and subcontractor-managed work
