Job Summary
Mid-Ohio Food Collective (MOFC) is looking for a Prep/Line Cook to assist the Kitchen Team with meal preparation and food service at Reeb Avenue Center. Prep/Line Cooks must be 18 years of age or older.
Primary Duties
Education and Certifications: High School Diploma/GED Required. Food Safety Certification (provided by Mid-Ohio Food Collective). Highly preferred Culinary Arts Degree from an accredited culinary program.
Experience: At least 1 year of kitchen experience in a high volume, complex foodservice operation. Customer service experience is preferred. Non-profit experience is a plus.
Skills/Competencies: Must have good customer skills, mathematical skills, strong communication and organizational skills. Manual dexterity and basic knife handling skills. Ability to use computerized food ordering and planning system and experience with Microsoft applications. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment.
JOB CONDITIONS
Kitchen environment. Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and extreme cold or heat (non-weather). The noise level is usually moderate but could increase to high. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision. Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and reach. Regularly required to handle or feel, talk/hear, and taste.

- Utilize a variety of kitchen tools and equipment for hot and cold food preparation.
- Prepare food items to the daily prep list with consistent quality and adherence to all state and local safety standards.
- Set up and sanitize workstation and ensure all necessary equipment and tools are ready for cooking.
- Maintain all appropriate logs related to cooking, reheating, sanitation, time, and temperature.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and always maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.
- Manage kitchen inventory levels and notify Kitchen Manager in advance of likely shortages.
- Ensure that customers receive outstanding service by providing a guest friendly environment.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance and always observe personal cleanliness rules.
- Work with volunteers in the kitchen and guide them to ensure adherence to food and personal safety standards.
