Front Desk Receptionist / Medical Assistant / Back Office Float – Sleep Medicine
Mid Michigan Sleep & Asthma Center is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and dependable Front Desk Receptionist/Medical Assistant to join our growing team. This position is a hybrid role that includes front desk responsibilities, medical assisting, and assisting in our sleep lab back office. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, enjoys working with patients, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Verify patient information by interviewing patients, reviewing medical history, and confirming visit information.
- Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs, including blood pressure, height, weight, and documenting a concise patient history.
- Prepare exam rooms and patient charts for provider visits.
- Administer injections to appropriate patients as directed.
- Perform Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs).
Front Office Duties
- Welcome and check in patients.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and assist patients with questions.
- Schedule and confirm appointments.
- Update, maintain, and file electronic medical records.
- Perform general administrative and clerical duties using computer applications and EMR systems.
Back Office / Sleep Lab Support
- Set up patients with Home Sleep Test (HST) equipment and provide clear instructions on proper use.
- Process CPAP, BiPAP, and supply orders with durable medical equipment (DME) companies.
- Assist with documentation related to sleep studies, including simple Home Sleep Test dictations by entering study values into standardized report templates.
- Assist providers and the sleep lab with day-to-day workflow and patient care coordination.
- Cross-train in various areas of the practice to provide coverage where needed.
Qualifications
- Medical Assistant certification preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable using computers and electronic medical records.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced medical office.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
