You will serve as a vital preconstruction asset, transforming detailed project plans into accurate, competitive cost models. This role provides the autonomy to drive complex material takeoffs while collaborating directly with the Chief Estimator to secure high-value contracts. How You Will Make an Impact
- Execute detailed quantity takeoffs from project drawings and specifications to guarantee precise data.
- Formulate comprehensive cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and specialized subcontracted work.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor proposals to ensure complete scope alignment and competitive pricing.
- Identify potential project risks, scope gaps, and constructability issues during the early budget phase.
- Develop conceptual budgets, detailed bid packages, and guaranteed maximum price proposals efficiently.
- Collaborate with project managers and superintendents to streamline the transition from bidding to operations.
- Utilize historical cost databases and current market trends to optimize overall pricing accuracy.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience reading and interpreting detailed construction drawings, specifications, and addenda.
- Solid knowledge of commercial and industrial construction methods, materials, and building sequencing.
- Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing specialized takeoff and estimating software programs.
- Strong analytical skills necessary to manage multiple bidding deadlines simultaneously.
- Expertise in organizing estimates in strict accordance with the CSI MasterFormat system.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of dedicated construction estimating experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Established track record of building and maintaining strong local subcontractor relationships.
