Animal Care Specialist
Part-time: 14hours per week (Saturday/Sunday)
Pay: $16.00 hourly
Mid Hudson Animal Aid is a free-range, no-kill cat shelter in Beacon, NY, seeking an
experienced and compassionate Animal Care Specialist to join our team two days a
week (Saturdays/Sundays). This is a hands-on position for someone with experience working with cats in a
shelter, veterinary setting, rescue, or similar animal-care environment. This position requires
patience, compassion, attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to manage the
day-to-day challenges of shelter work.
Responsibilities:
- Administer medications safely.
- Handle cats of various temperaments safely and humanely for medical care.
- Adhere to medical, cleaning, and feeding protocols.
- Keep accurate records and report medical concerns/information on cats promptly to management.
- Interact with potential adopters and provide tours of the shelter.
- Complete all tasks in a timely fashion.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience with animals, preferably cats.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn.
- Ability to interact positively with the public.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and under pressure.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to transport cats to the vet in potential emergency situations.
