Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Diesel Mechanic to oversee and execute maintenance, repair, and diagnostics on a diverse fleet of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. Duties
- Lead and supervise a team of diesel mechanics, providing guidance on repair procedures and best practices
- Diagnose complex mechanical issues using schematics, diagnostic tools, and hands-on inspection techniques
- Perform repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery
- Conduct vehicle inspections focusing on transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, hydraulics, air brakes, and alignment
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding and fabrication tools to support equipment repair or customization
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and diagnostic findings for all vehicles and machinery
- Ensure compliance with safety standards related to vehicle systems repair, electrical systems, HVAC units, and heavy truck repairs
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a diesel mechanic with dealership or heavy equipment background preferred
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems repair including transmissions, hydraulics, suspension, and electrical systems
- Skilled in automotive diagnostics using schematics and electronic testing tools
- Hands-on experience with heavy equipment operation such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers
- Proficiency in fabrication techniques including welding and soldering for equipment repair or modification
- Ability to lift heavy components safely and perform heavy lifting tasks regularly
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members
