Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic Service Technician to join our dynamic team. Duties
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, suspensions, air brakes, HVAC components, and other critical machinery parts using schematics and diagnostic tools.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire service, alignments, and inspections to prevent future issues.
- Fabricate and modify equipment components using welding, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet operational specifications.
- Troubleshoot complex equipment problems on-site or in the shop environment involving heavy construction machinery like excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery.
- Conduct electrical diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment and automotive systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain detailed service records including inspection reports, repair logs, and maintenance schedules for all serviced equipment.
- Assist with heavy lifting operations and perform assembly or disassembly of machinery parts during repairs or upgrades to ensure safety and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a diesel mechanic or service technician within a dealership or industrial setting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, and construction machinery.
- Proficiency in electrical diagnostics, schematics reading, automotive diagnostics, hydraulics troubleshooting, and equipment troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; familiarity with power tools is essential.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during repairs or maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts specifications and standards for diesel engine repair and vehicle maintenance.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
- Valid certifications in diesel engine diagnostics, air brake systems, HVAC systems, electrical systems or related fields are preferred but not mandatory.
