The Accounting Controller at Mid-Atlantic Entry Systems is responsible for managing the company’s financial operations and ensuring accuracy in all accounting activities. Reporting directly to the Owner, this role handles bookkeeping, payroll, and financial reporting while providing clear insight into the company’s financial position. The Controller serves as a trusted advisor to the Owner and works closely with all departments to support business performance and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Oversight:
Direct and oversee the accounting function, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all financial activities.
Bookkeeping and Records:
Maintain accurate records of income, expenses, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist the Owner in creating budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor performance against budgets and provide recommendations for adjustments.
Cash Flow Management:
Track daily and monthly cash flow to ensure the company meets operational needs. Provide the Owner with recommendations to strengthen financial stability.
Payroll Management:
Oversee payroll processing to ensure employees across all departments are paid accurately and on time, including tax withholdings and deductions.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure timely filing of taxes and compliance with state and federal financial regulations. Coordinate with outside tax professionals as needed.
Strategic Support to Owner:
Provide financial analysis and insights to support the Owner in business planning, purchasing decisions, and growth opportunities.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting practices and improve financial workflows for greater efficiency.
Collaboration Across Departments:
Work closely with:
- Installation Department to track job costs, project budgets, and resource needs.
- Service Department to align billing, warranty claims, and service profitability.
- Sales Department to support quoting, contract reviews, and revenue tracking.
- Administration to ensure smooth office operations, vendor management, and reporting.
- Owner to provide accurate financial data for decision-making and planning.
Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare clear and timely financial reports for the Owner, including summaries of company performance and department-level insights.
Key Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and small business accounting practices.
- Experience with payroll, taxes, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to organize, analyze, and present financial information clearly.
- Excellent communication skills for advising the Owner and collaborating across all departments.
- Proficiency in accounting software (such as QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based, involving regular interaction with internal staff from Installation, Service, Sales, and Administration, as well as external partners such as banks and tax professionals. The role requires reliability, accuracy, and the ability to balance multiple financial priorities.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
