The Position
The Family Coordinator, Communications role serves as the key contact for donor families following the loss of a loved one to ensure the donor family needs of compassion, information and honoring the gift are met. This role is also responsible for managing local and regional donor family events.
What You’ll Do
- Provides appropriate intervention, disposition, and follow-up in response to feedback, community-based referrals, and requests or concerns from donor families
- Facilitate quarterly family workshops, candlelight memorials, and support activities across the DSA
- Maintain a working relationship with suppliers, vendors, and venues
- Support community outreach and volunteer activities, as needed
- Acts as first point of contact for donor family questions, concerns and survey follow up
- Facilitate the intake and logging of donor family surveys; follow up with appropriate departments and leaders, as necessary
- Update Donor Family databases, including UNOS and Salesforce contacts
- Send donor medals to tissue donor families and portrait packages to ANR families
- Works with Director, Donor Family Care and Community Engagement and Performance Excellence and Business Intelligence to identify departmental gaps and create plans to address those gaps
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field
- 1-2 years’ experience working with families in grief or similar work experience
- Understand regulations and standards of hospital accrediting agencies and organizations in addition to federal and state laws regarding donation
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Skilled in managing complex and diverse issues, often involving multiple simultaneous challenges
