Loan Officer
This Loan Officer role is ideal for a relationship‑driven professional who enjoys sales, community involvement, and growing a market they know and care about. You’ll work in an established rural market with strong community ties, focusing on building new relationships, expanding existing ones, and helping local businesses and individuals succeed—while playing a key role in the continued growth of the Bank.

Hours: Minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, occasional Saturday by appointment to meet customers’ needs, some evenings and weekends to attend events on behalf of the bank

Job Overview
The Loan Officer is responsible for originating, evaluating, recommending approval of, and closing consumer, residential, commercial, and agricultural loans. This role uses a consultative, relationship‑based approach to meet customer needs while balancing growth objectives, credit quality, and regulatory compliance in a community bank environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Bank’s growth objectives by identifying lending opportunities, deepening customer relationships, and promoting Bank products and services.
  • Use a consultative approach to understand borrower needs and recommend appropriate credit solutions while balancing customer relationships, growth, and risk.
  • Meets with loan applicants to gather financial information, explain loan products and terms, and guide customers through the loan application process.
  • Obtains, verifies, and analyzes borrower financial information to assess creditworthiness.
  • Reviews loan applications and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with bank policy and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Approves loans within assigned authority or presents recommendations to management or loan committee for decision.
  • Manages and services an assigned loan portfolio, including ongoing borrower communication, annual reviews, covenant monitoring, and proactive identification of credit risk.
  • Coordinates with loan processing, servicing, credit administration, and branch staff to ensure a smooth, timely loan closing and servicing experience.
  • Responds to customer inquiries throughout the life of the loan and addresses payment issues as needed to support timely repayment.
  • Represents the bank in the community by building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, referral partners, and local organizations to support long‑term growth and trust.
  • Complies with all lending laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Participates in ongoing training and professional development, including licensing and continuing education.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, or equivalent is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of banking experience is preferred, with flexibility to substitute years of experience for educational requirements or related work experience.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales and production goals through active prospecting, relationship management, and closing strategies is a must.
  • Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) license preferred or willingness to obtain as required.
  • Strong understanding of loan products, credit principles, and financial analysis.
  • Working knowledge of banking regulations and credit risk management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with loan processing systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple loan files, and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Knowledge of local market conditions and community lending practices.
