A: Purpose and Scope:

The Cold Spray Product Engineer will support all cold spray developmental and production operations. The principal focus will be research and development activity in support of various government programs and internal Mid-America Aerotech (MAA) R&D programs as well as research and development activity in support of commercial entities.

The Cold Spray Product Engineer will report to the Senior Engineer and will exercise extensive collaborative activity with MAA engineering and production staff.

The Cold Spray Product Engineer is responsible for ensuring that engineering activities, including internal and external processes, are accomplished in accordance with established standards and meet established company requirements.

B. Responsibilities:

• Develop, manage and oversee research and development programs as required by MAA management.
• Test additive manufacturing technology, specifically cold spray.
• Explore ways to improve technology and understanding of cold spray.
• Create technical documentation as required by MAA processes, or as required by customer directive.
• Publish and disseminate findings by presenting at conferences, meetings, publishing reports, and advising decision-makers.

C. Key Tasks:

• Develop and enable execution of new repair procedures using cold spray technologies.
• Maintain work records in accordance with MAA standard practices and guidance, and the MAA FAA Repair Station Manual.
• Support equipment calibration and maintenance requirements.
• Program and use robotic equipment to accomplish tasks.
• Preparing cost estimates and analyzing cost parameters.
• Building prototypes, products, and systems for testing.
• Design testing procedures and coordinate to identify problems and solutions.
• Collaborating on standards for procedures and component requirements.
• Coordinating and communicating work efforts.
• Supporting or leading teams of engineers and technicians.

D. Organizational Relationships:

The Cold Spray Product Engineer reports directly to the MAA Senior Engineer.

E. Essential Skills and Qualifications:

• Cold spray or thermal spray experience (plasma spray, HVOF, flame spray, etc.) or additive manufacturing desired.
• Familiarity with robot operation and programming desired.
• Possess general computer skills and knowledge as well as engineering specific applications as required.
• Ability to read and interpret technical data both in the form of drawings, and technical orders from a variety of military and civilian sources.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Effective inter-personal skills.
• Knowledge of established aviation maintenance, overhaul and repair practices.

F. Typical Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Engineering discipline.

I. Status:

This is an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not subject to the requirements of DOT 49 CFR Part 40, and FAA 14 CFR Part 120 Drug and Alcohol Policy.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
