Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial manufacturing equipment with an emphasis on PLC-controlled systems. This role ensures maximum equipment uptime by performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing electrical and mechanical issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled equipment, including diagnosing hardware and software issues.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder logic, and mechanical drawings.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production machinery and facility equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system failures.
- Maintain and troubleshoot motors, drives, sensors, relays, contactors, HMIs, VFDs, and servo systems.
- Support production by responding quickly to equipment breakdowns and minimizing downtime.
- Program modifications and troubleshoot PLC systems such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, or similar platforms.
- Calibrate and maintain instrumentation and automated control systems.
- Install, test, and commission new equipment and production lines.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), OSHA regulations, and company safety policies.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to improve equipment reliability and performance.
- Recommend and implement continuous improvement projects to increase productivity and reduce equipment failures.
- High school diploma or GED required; Technical degree or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong PLC troubleshooting skills; ability to identify faults and make minor program modifications is preferred.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or other industrial PLC platforms.
- Knowledge of electrical systems up to 480V, motor controls, VFDs, and industrial automation.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Experience troubleshooting hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with CMMS software.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
