Job Summary
As a Fire Alarm Technician at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for maintaining and operating all fire alarm systems on campus. This includes the front end, network, initiation devices, horns and strobes, and all field devices. Your role will involve performing preventive and predictive maintenance, corrective work, inspections, coordinating work activities performed by contractors, and ensuring compliance with NFPA-required testing.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all safety procedures, including LOTO and NFPA 70E standards.
- Conduct timely and detailed preventive maintenance on highly technical facilities equipment.
- Provide effective responses to restore equipment to service promptly in the event of a system failure.
- Identify and respond to alarm conditions.
- Offer timely support to resolve equipment issues.
- Identify and reduce equipment defects to improve quality and enhance system stability.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, testing, and calibration activities, while proactively troubleshooting faults, technical issues, and supervisory alarms to ensure optimal system performance and compliance with operational standards.
- Understand fire alarm one-line diagrams.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of experience in fire alarm installation and repair (or equivalent trade school/military experience).
- Flexible to work four 10-hour shifts per week with varying hours, and able to move between different shifts as needed to support facility operations and meet business demands.
- Ability to stand for up to 10 hours, walk 1–5 miles per shift, bend, crouch, kneel, climb ladders, and work with arms raised.
- 2 years of experience in fire alarm installation and repair.
- Valid electrical license.
- NICET certification and/or 2 years of experience.
- Knowledge of Edwards EST fire alarm systems.
