What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at MICROLUMEN INC?
This position requires current authorization to work in the United States. We are not currently offering visa sponsorship for this role.
Essential Functions:
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the Accu-Cut, Pulling & Flushing departments, functions to assure that efficiency, safety, quality practices, and procedures are followed.
- Work with Operations Analyst to track and analyze metrics (KPI’s) across the department and monitor reports to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement. Formulate and lead or support associated actions to drive associated improvements.
- Manage the employment and training of staff to include evaluation and motivation, to achieve peak productivity and quality. Work with People Operations to hire, terminate, and coach employees, and maintain accurate payroll records for the department.
- Collaborate with other departments to manage the process flow of products, including scheduling customer projects, improving the production capacity, and making departmental processes more efficient and effective (reducing waste, using lean).
- Oversee implementation and administration of department policies, systems, and procedures.
- Provide guidance and direction to Leads and technicians/operators.
- Track inventory and communicate needs with the Purchasing Department.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance to understand and overcome customers’ quality concerns.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
- Display strong problem-solving and analysis skills, including the ability to assess and manage priorities. Must be able to work well with others and communicate efficiently and effectively.
- Must be able to operate a computer, including Microsoft Office products of Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand in both written and verbal form. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
- Must be self-driven with an ability to start and complete projects independently or within a group.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language proficiently to ensure compliance with our ISO 13485 procedures.

Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent manufacturing work experience required.
Previous Work Experience:
- Five or more years of experience in manufacturing required.
- One or more years of experience in a leadership role required.
- Familiarity with ISO 13485 compliance (audit preparation and standard compliance within departments) preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time or more.
- Must be able to operate a computer 50% of the time or more.
- Must be able to frequently move about inside the manufacturing environment and access machinery.
- Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
