What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Sales Representative position at Microbiology International?
Summary of Position:
This position will focus on capital equipment sales in our Texas territory which consists of the following states; TX, AR, OK, LA, CO, KS, and greater Kansas City. This will include sales of all segments of the Microbiology International and HypOxygen portfolio. Commissions will be paid at 10% of gross profit of all capital equipment sales and service plans in the territory. This position will assist with coordination of installs in the territory with the assistance of the National Sales Manager. In addition this territory manager will also be responsible for inside sales coordination of our clinical CHROMagar portfolio. This will involve attending specialized clinical conferences and interfacing with the managing director of CHROMagar in France as well as any consultants as needed.
Responsibilities – Service Contract Administration
· Create and email all service contract quotations for our sales & service team
· Review customer documents, terms & conditions
· Works closely with the sales & service team to facilitate customer satisfaction
· Process & maintain all service contract purchase orders
· Maintain an organized system of physical and digital records
· Review and update existing contracts to monitor and be proactive with expiration status
· Review all billable SARs submitted from service to ensure accuracy for invoicing
· Assist customers with our service plan options, terms & conditions
· Enter all equipment shipped and warranty expirations into Maximizer
· Record all equipment Installation & Training dates into Maximizer
· Track payments and deadlines for billable Service Action Reports
· Assist in equipment quotations for our sales team
· Ensure all deadlines and conditions described on customer contracts are met
· Assist with order processing
· Phone support
Responsibilities – TX Inside Capital Sales & Chromogenic Media sales
- Technical sales of the Microbiology International, HypOxygen product lines including processing sales leads, customer follow-ups on product requests, generating quotes, performing cold calls and maintenance of the CRM database
- Drive sales growth of instrumentation and consumable products
- Communicate with prospective & existing customers on all products and services offered, emphasizing product features and benefits to produce increased sales
- Maintain qualified leads and forward consumable opportunities to inside sales
- Submit and follow-up on monthly advertisements and maintain sales campaigns
- Provide customers detailed marketing material related to product requests
- Capturing of accurate and complete information to maintain, enter and update sales & lead information in the Maximizer CRM (customer relationship management) database system
- Initiate prompt email follow-ups from trade shows leads
- Understand the needs and expectations of the customers, present key features and advantages of the company products, provide relevant solutions or alternatives in their preferred choice of products to secure new business
- Communicate the methods of using our products and resolve customer inquiries
- Analyze the choices and financial capacities of every customer and suggest suitable products
- Close sales deals and achieve customer satisfaction to retain customer for future purchases
- Attend sales meetings concerning sales targets, forecasts and marketing campaigns
- Scheduling in-house and customer site demos
- Trade show attendance within territory and national meetings
- Maintain outstanding professional relationships with other staff members, customers, industry contacts and vendors necessary in the best interest of the company and in conformity with objectives and policy
Requirements:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite & Microsoft Excel

- Solid written and verbal communication skills and fluency in English is a must

- Maintain current and accurate contract files including quotations, negotiation history, purchase orders and change orders (Maximizer)

Required Education, Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- High school graduate or GED, some college or other relevant education/experience a plus. At least 2 years’ experience that is directly related to the job duties and responsibilities specified.
- Must pass a background check
- Ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing and the spoken word, in person and on the telephone; fluency in English is a must.
- Ability to generate professional emails and computerized record maintenance skills
- Ability to work reliably and independently
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software
- Ability to understand and follow directions.
- Clinical microbiology experience a plus
- Working under limited direction at times, including experience in planning, prioritizing and organizing work for self and others to achieve goals and deadlines
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements: Work within a typical professional office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noises or adverse environmental issues. Position requires the ability to use office equipment and computers. Requires the ability to stand, walk and sit for 8 hours a day. Must have the ability to use hands to manipulate, handle, feel and control items, equipment, and computers. Ability to walk, bend, kneel and reach with minimal lifting requirements. Ability to talk, hear and communicate with staff and customers over the phone. Have the faculty of sight to be able to read and interpret written documents.
