CNC Programmer-Operator, Precision Milling & Turning

Micro Precision Industries
South Windham, CT Other
POSTED ON 9/2/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/1/2026
What a Day Looks Like

You start by reviewing work orders and blueprints, translating GD&T into clear machining strategies. You prove out programs, set tool offsets, and dial in zero and reference points. As parts run, you verify first-article dimensions with calipers and micrometers, keep quality logs current, and fine-tune for speed and accuracy. Between jobs, you swap chucks, indicate vises, tram heads, and keep machines in top shape with preventative maintenance. Safety is second nature—and so is taking pride in parts that meet spec the first time.

Role Overview
  • Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce precision components.
  • Interpret drawings, work orders, engineering plans, and orthographic views; apply GD&T in real time.
  • Enter and adjust G-code instructions; manage tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches.
  • Calculate feeds, speeds, and dimensions using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Install and adjust three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, collets, stops, and stock pushers; indicate vises and tram heads.
  • Verify first runs and in-process parts to international standards and documented QA procedures.
  • Complete routine maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate repairs when needed.
  • Document production and quality data; own continuous improvement and add value wherever possible.
  • Experience with Mazak controls, milling, lathe work, and Fryer-brand equipment is a plus.
