Job Description
Assists Mold Makers in the construction of tight-tolerance, high-precision mold components while learning the safe and efficient use of high-precision metalworking equipment. Completes additional schooling as well as on the job training to earn a Journeyperson Mold Maker certificate.
Essential Positions Functions
The primary or essential functions of the position include the following listed below. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Studies blueprints, sketches, or drawings to manufacture components to print specifications.
- Plans machining operations for the most efficient manufacturing process.
- Designs electrodes and programs CNC equipment as required to produce accurate mold components.
- Accurately manufactures components to specified tolerances, commonly .0002”.
- Inspects work for accuracy and documents as necessary using common toolroom inspection equipment such as indicators, gauge blocks, micrometers, etc.
- Develops specifications from general descriptions and draws sketches of specialized components to be fabricated, such as fixtures or gauges, when necessary.
