Job Summary:
This position reports to the Purchasing Manager and will be responsible for sourcing critical supply chain items and working with the team of Buyers, identifying, evaluating and selecting suppliers for goods and services at the best possible value, working closely with Production Managers, Buyers, Schedulers and Engineers to ensure the production schedule can be met and identifying opportunities for outsourcing assembly work and qualifying vendors to meet our quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
· Maintain relationships with critical component suppliers. Build and maintain long-term relationships.
· Work closely with buyers to resolve sourcing issues.
· Directly interface with Engineering as needed to determine additional sources or alternate designs.
· Work closely with Production Managers to determine outsourcing opportunities to enable the Production Departments to maintain build schedules.
· Work with Quality to qualify new vendors and identify potential outsourcing suppliers.
· Research market trends for critical commodities to understander fluctuations in price and quality.
· Aid in negotiations with potential suppliers.
· Oversee request for quote process.
· Ensure that all sourcing activities comply with company policies.
· Develop long-term plans for supplier performance, supply chain disruptions and be proactive in dual sourcing critical commodities.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or equivalent work experience.
· Five or more years’ experience as sourcing specialist.
· Experience with ERP software (Infor preferred).
· Demonstrated understanding of market dynamics and use of sound business judgement.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Ability to negotiate and sustain networking relationships.
· Proficient in MS Office.
· Ability to multi-task.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Manufacturing and electronics industry experience.
