Job Summary: 

This position reports to the Machine Engineering Department and is responsible for researching, designing, building, and testing of thermal cooling solutions for mechanical devices including tools, system controls, and machines.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Supports design efforts of custom cooling solutions for customers’ high-power electronics.

·         Participate in initial and ongoing design reviews to drive innovation in thermal design of burn-in systems.

·         Provide technical support and guidance for thermal design and application to customers, internal design teams, junior team members, and project managers.

·         Direct thermal design and modeling of electronic systems using CFD tools.

·         Expands and maintains technical knowledge relating to the design and controls of burn-in chambers.

·         Refrigeration system, heat exchanger, thermal management design expert for all burn-in and test platforms.

·         Prototyping and test fixture development for new thermal design applications.

·         Ensures designs meet and exceed product specifications, regulatory requirements, and international standards.

·         Identifies process deficiencies and develops solutions to improve those deficiencies.

·         Projects future project needs and completes full lifecycle product development tasks.

·         Partners with Sales and Customer Service to support customer issues, translate feedback into engineering design requirements, and process necessary engineering and field change orders.

·         Performs all other related duties as requested or assigned.

Required Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

·         4 years of mechanical design experience.

·         Experience in system and component level heat transfer, thermodynamics, and cooling systems.

·         Excellent prioritization and project development skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.

·         Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

·         Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

·         Effective problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Refrigeration system and water chiller design and support experience.

·         Experience with CFD tools and thermal modeling.

·         Strong knowledge of ERP systems and Manufacturing Systems.

·         Experience designing and developing electromechanical assemblies.

·         Experience using SolidWorks.
