What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Technologist - - Full-Time position at Michigan Surgical Center?
Surgical Technician needed full time (4-9's each week / 72 biweekly) in the OR Department for a busy surgery center located in East Lansing. Completion of accredited course in surgical technology. Experience with retina surgery is preferred. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Tech is responsible for assisting surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses in the care of patients in the operating room. The Surgical Tech:
- Maintains knowledge & practice of aseptic technique.
- Assists the circulating nurse in preparation for the surgical procedure & during turnovers between procedures.
- Prepares sterile field for surgical procedure, ensuring proper instruments and supplies are available for use.
- Anticipates needs of surgeon & the passing of instruments & supplies.
- Functions as assistant when needed during the surgical procedure.
- Obtains counts with circulating nurse.
- Cares for specimens according to procedure.
- Maintains equipment, supplies, and environmental safety.
- Maintains knowledge of current trends in surgical procedures & instrumentation.
The Center is open Monday through Thursday. NO FRIDAYS, NO WEEKENDS or ON-CALL. Work hours/days may vary.
