What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Staff position at Michigan State University?
The Finance Staff shall be responsible for the initial processing of fund requisition forms from RHA constituents (students who live on campus) as well as the upkeep of the RHA office.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Accept and process various requisition forms from RHA constituent groups in accordance with RHA financial procedures.
- Compile all necessary documentation, complete vouchers, and submit for Chief Financial Officer (CFO)/ Director of Treasures and Allocations(DTA) approval.
- Serve as a liaison between the constituents(on-campus students) and RHA
- Organize, sort, and update financial files in accordance with RHA retention policies & MSU Internal Audit.
- Create monthly finance reports for constituent groups.
- Assist the DTA and CFO with financial projects as needed.
- Maintain and update the workbook (RHA’s financial record keeping spreadsheet).
- Pick up and process packages that have been delivered for RHA and/or RHA constituents from the Holden front desk.
- Respond to emails in the finance staff email account in a timely manner.
- Answer RHA office phone, respond to any voicemails and/or take messages
- Keep open communication with the Executive Secretary, Director of Treasurers and Allocations, and Chief Financial Officer.
- Maintain inventory of office snacks and supplies, inform the Executive Secretary of any shortages.
- Organize and maintain RHA storage areas.
- Keep inventory of RHA promotional materials and merchandise in the storage area.
- Maintain clean workspaces in the RHA Offices.
- Provided superior customer service to all.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred qualifications: Strong organization skills, detailed orientated, time management, familiarity with Microsoft 365.
Hourly: 10 Hours Weekly paid on a bi-weekly basis.
Must be available for the following:
- Minimum of 4 in-person office hours a week
- The RHA office is located in Holden G-7
- Fall Training : A collectively decided day for a 2-3 hour in-person session as soon as all staff is on-boarded
- Spring Training: A collectively decided day for a 2-3 hour in-person session sometime during the first two weeks of school
