Location: Gallery/Owen/Shaw
Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour
As a Student Cashier/Host, you will be responsible for handling Spartan cash and credit cards for dining hall sales. You will also be responsible for swiping student ID's, and assisting customers with any relevant questions. It is your job to make sure the guests of Culinary Services are always greeted in a friendly manner, while receiving the most outstanding customer service.
Students are expected to work as directed in any position as required to ensure continued, optimal service, and support of the operation. This may include cleaning tables, serving food and kitchen cleaning.

Required Qualifications
• Be enrolled as a student at Michigan State University (during academic year)
• Demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service
• Must be a motivated self-starter, and able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
• Must have a strong work ethic and demonstrated character, taking responsibility for work and self
• Must be dependable and reliable, with exemplary attendance
• Must be able to work nights/late nights, early mornings, and/or weekends
• Must be able to work through semester break periods
• Must keep all information strictly confidential
• Ability to communicate verbally with, and understand information from customers
• Must be positive and respectful, especially when working with a diverse population
• Ability to learn and explain MSU dining plans
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
• Must be able to stand/sit for long periods of time
• Occasional lifting of 5-20 pounds.
• Knowledge of basic computer usage
Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated ability to work with staff and customers at all levels
• Customer Service experience
• Money handling experience
• Ability and strong desire to deliver outstanding Spartan experiences to both guests and teammates

Dining hall hours vary per semester.
• Must be able to work varied shifts, including early mornings (possible start 5:45AM), nights, late nights (until 12:15AM), and weekends
• You will be scheduled for weekend shifts on an alternating weekend basis, at a minimum
• During the school year domestic student employees may not work more than 29 hours per work week, and international student employees may not work more than 20 hours per work week
• During school breaks, between semesters, and during Summer semester, all student employees are permitted to work up to 40 hours per work week.
