Laundry Attendant
Position Summary
Load and unload articles from cabinet dryers. Shake out and untangle linen from dryers/laundry carts. Shake, lay out, and/or feed linen and uniforms into sheet spreader, ironers, vibra steamer and uniform presses. Remove finished linen from ironers and presses, inspect for defects and rewash items for quality control. Inspect, fold, press, and wrap finished laundry, placing on conveyor or in baskets or hanging on carts/laundry racks. Computer skills use for scanning in/out items and filling out paperwork for proper billing and data entry; compliance training. Unpacking of new uniforms and linen, matching packing slip with customer order, tagging and data entry per account number. Report, record and maintain on-going counts of linen defect items for accurate linen replacement and inventory levels. Perform minor hemming and sewing repairs on linens and uniforms.
All positions in RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.
Minimum Requirements
Ability to be a contributor in all operations involving the flow of the work plant. Ability to unload, sort, receive, scan in uniforms, ironing and finishing/folding/wrapping of clean uniforms, aprons, towels and linens. Computer literacy is preferred. The ability to be trained on and become efficient with invoicing/inventory systems is crucial.
