Accounting and Finance Manager

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year

Job description:

Seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee and manage all day-to-day accounting and financial operations. This individual will play a critical leadership role within the organization, taking ownership of the company’s financial processes while working closely with ownership and an external CPA firm. This is a direct Hire role based in Livonia, MI.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who is ready to step into (or grow into) a Controller-level role in a small business setting.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Management

• Maintain and oversee the general ledger
• Perform monthly and quarterly close processes
• Prepare and post journal entries, adjustments, and reclassifications
• Coordinate with external CPA for year-end financials and tax filings
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of all financial data

Accounts Payable & Receivable

• Manage full-cycle AP/AR
• Enter and process purchase invoices
• Oversee invoicing for customer sales orders
• Manage ACH payments (no live checks issued)
• Communicate with vendors regarding payments and account status

Payroll & Banking

• Process payroll through ADP
• Oversee cash flow and banking activities
• Prepare payments for final authorization by ownership

Operations & Administration

• Handle general administrative and accounting-related tasks
• Interact with customers, vendors, and internal team members
• Assist in improving processes and financial workflows

Leadership & Growth

• Serve as a key financial leader within the organization
• Participate in hiring, training, and managing future accounting support staff
• Contribute to business operations and potential business development initiatives
• Transition into a broader Accounting/HR Manager role over time

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on accounting experience
• Proven experience managing full-cycle accounting
• Experience with month-end close and financial reporting
• Prior experience hiring and/or managing employees
• High level of integrity, accountability, and honesty
• Confident communicator who can “hold their own” while remaining collaborative
• Proficiency with accounting software and general computer systems (ERP experience preferred but not required)

Preferred:

• Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or similar industries
• Familiarity with ADP payroll systems
• Notary Public (or willingness to become one)
• Desire to grow into a Controller-level leadership role

Education:

• Degree not required; relevant experience is essential
