Job Summary

As Section Chief, you will be responsible for

  • Strategic Vision: Develop, articulate, and execute the clinical, academic, and educational vision for General and Preventive Cardiology & Hypertension, aligned with the divisional and institutional goals.
  • Clinical Leadership: Manage faculty schedules and clinical operations, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Advancing Scholarship: Promote a productive and collaborative research environment, supporting faculty achievement and interdisciplinary initiatives.
  • Fostering Education: Cultivate a thriving learning culture for trainees and faculty, enhancing mentorship, teaching, and professional growth.
  • Faculty Development: Oversee evaluations, recruitment, and development.
  • Collaborating for Impact: Partner with leadership across the Division and Institution to advance clinical innovation, research, and educational excellence.

Required Qualifications*

We Seek Leaders With

  • M.D. or D.O. with board certification in Cardiovascular Medicine. Additional qualifications and certifications in lipidology, cardiac imaging, etc. are welcome.
  • Eligibility for Michigan medical licensure.
  • Distinguished record of clinical and teaching achievement and scholarly productivity. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in mentorship, education, and faculty development.
  • Commitment to fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Academic rank and track will be determined by qualifications and experience.

This dynamic role has a significant impact on patient care, faculty development, and scholarly achievement, and is accompanied by a faculty appointment (Clinical- or Tenure-Track) at Associate Professor or Professor rank. Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses. Tenure-track faculty appointments require an institutional reference check regarding misconduct, as well as completion of self-disclosure and authorization forms.
