Job Summary

The research lab of Dr. Mara Duncan Department of Cell & Developmental Biology at the University of Michigan Medical School (Ann Arbor) seeks a highly motivated individual to work as a Research Lab Tech Intermediate/Associate (sites.google.com/a/umich.edu/duncanlab/). You will join a dynamic team and assist in an ongoing project on the molecular mechanisms of membrane traffic. The Duncan lab is an inclusive environment that prioritizes a growth mindset. What You'll Do

You will be responsible for molecular genetics projects. Research activities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Cell culture (Microbial and mammalian)
  • Fluorescence microscopy
  • Protein extractions, western blot analysis, subcloning, and genotyping.
  • Statistical analysis


Additional Responsibilities May Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Organization and maintenance of lab databases
  • Ordering
  • Directing undergraduates
  • Training new lab members


Required Qualifications*

  • Research Lab Tech Associate: HS Diploma or Assoc Degree and 0-1 year experience is required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Research Lab Tech Intermediate: HS Diploma or Assoc Degree and 1-3 years experience is required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.


Desired Qualifications*

  • Coursework or work-place experience with sterile technique
  • Cell biology or related coursework
  • Experience in molecular genetics and additional experience in one or more additional relevant research techniques

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
